Band Notes 11/20 to 11/26

Happy Thanksgiving Week everyone! Although we have a couple of rehearsals and a holiday concert still ahead (concert on December 14th), we are about to wrap up a very busy fall and EVERYONE is deserving of a break this week!

This week we had a wonderful jazz concert on Tuesday evening, a Dine Out night at Froyo Earth with entertainment from many of our students, the close of our annual poinsettia sale, and a field trip to SFCC for participation in a masterclass and clinics for our Jazz 1 students (thanks again to Mrs. Babcock for providing lunch!!).

THIS WEEK - 11/20 to 11/26, Thanksgiving break coming up!

  • Two days of classes (M,T) then a well deserved Thanksgiving break - ENJOY!

  • Announcement of our So Cal '24 chaperone team (Monday)

CONCERTS & PERFORMANCES COMING UP! - meadbands.org/calendar

  • December 14 - ALL BANDS Holiday Concert at Mead HS Theatre, 7pm

    • Rehearsals for this holiday concert on 12/11 and 12/13

    • Stay tuned for more info on the pre-concert band community dinner!

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

  • Solo/Ensemble contest is February 3rd; registrations happen soon.

    • Required for Wind Ensemble (part assignments will be coming out soon),

    • Required for Advanced Percussion (Blur),

    • Optional for Intermediate Percussion (will decide as a group).

    • Optional for Symphonic Band students (let me know if you want to participate)

  • Missing assignments - don't forget if you've missed assignments such as concert performances, community service, baked goods, etc, it is the responsibility of the student to check with me on ways to make these up.

  • Basketball Pep Band - always a student favorite (fun music, indoors, etc :D). Keep on the lookout for signups to ensure we have the instrumentation needed to keep this a volunteer activity! We will likely begin paying at games in January; after the winter break.
