Band Notes 5/22 to 5/29

Happy Monday afternoon!

Thanks for a wonderful job at the Lilac Parade on Saturday night! Through the difficult stretches of learning and memorizing music, the time spent conditioning to carry equipment, and finally to make it through the parade and the longggggg walk back to the buses - you did it! I have already been reminded how important this event is to our community - and we do so as rock stars! Way to go, everyone!

Thanks to all of the chaperones for your continued involvement in the program and help for me and these students!

REMINDER! AMANDA BUNCH SCHOLARSHIP (A message from the Bandwagon)

As the end of our children's senior year comes to a close, many of us are thinking about college and scholarships. We have an amazing opportunity for our senior BAND students to apply for a $1,000 AmandaBunchScholarship. The application and budget form are attached so you can print them and fill them out. DO NOT RETURN THEM TO THE BAND ROOM OR HIGH SCHOOL! Applications need to be mailed directly to the Bunch Family. The deadline to get it to the Bunch family is May 31st and the address to send it to is on the application.

• Wednesday, May 24 - Sr. Awards Night (New for Jazz 1)

  • Jazz 1 event only

  • Arrive approx. 5:30pm-5:45pm

  • Perform from approx. 6pm to 6:25pm

  • Dress casual nice (dress pants, collared shirt, skirt, dress)

• Tuesday, May 30 - Jazz Awards Concert

  • 7pm, MHS Theatre

• Monday, June 5 - End of Year Band Awards and Concert

  • 5:00pm - BBQ and entertainment (Updated Time!)

  • 6:30pm - Concert and awards begin

  • Required/credit for ALL band and percussion students

• Thursday, June 8 - Band Picnic

  • 3:00pm to 5:00pm

  • Optional activity

  • Yearbook signing, softball, tennis

• Friday, June 9 - MHS Graduation

  • 3pm load equipment, 3:30pm depart for McCarthy

  • 5pm ceremony begins

  • 7:30pm approximate return to MHS

• Thursday, June 15 - Informational Meeting for 23/24 school year

  • 7pm - MHS Music department (band room, choir room, theatre)

  • All things 23/24 (marching band, trips, fundraising, etc)
