Band Notes 5/1 to 5/7

Happy Sunday evening to you all!

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure to travel with, and listen to our WIAA/WMEA State Solo & Ensemble musicians. Although the results don't always turn out like we hope, they all played wonderfully with our performance highlight being Nick Kar bringing home a 3rd Place Finish in the Tenor Saxophone room! Congrats to every single one of you!

More importantly, I was reminded of the fun, bonding, socializing, friendships and memories that happen on these trips. From what happens when you eat too many cheese balls, to animal techno music, to learning a new game of "crazy Uno", it is so much fun and oh so rewarding!

That trip brings to a close overnighters for the 2022/2023 school year. What a run it has been! We'll still get some "travel" in as we head to downtown Spokane for the parade and the GU McCarthy Center for graduation :D

AMANDA BUNCH SCHOLARSHIP (A message from the Bandwagon)

As the end of our children's senior year comes to a close, many of us are thinking about college and scholarships. We have an amazing opportunity for our senior BAND students to apply for a $1,000 AmandaBunchScholarship. The application and budget form are attached so you can print them and fill them out. DO NOT RETURN THEM TO THE BAND ROOM OR HIGH SCHOOL! Applications need to be mailed directly to the Bunch Family. The deadline to get it to the Bunch family is May 31st and the address to send it to is on the application.

If you have any questions please contact Connie at 509-939-0725 or chillbunch@comcast.net.

COMING UP

For the next 3 weeks, students will be spending most of our class time working on our music for the Spokane Lilac Festival Association, Armed Forces Torchlight Parade. Quick Reminder that everyone in our program is involved in this event. Don't forget to bring comfortable shoes for our outside sessions to condition and freshen up our marching skills.

We'll also be weaving in 2 to 3 songs that we'll play at the End of the Year Awards and BBQ. That event is always soo fun!
