Elementary Beginning Band

Thank you for your interest in the Mead Elementary Beginning Band program!  Our program is available to students in 5th grade at Brentwood, Evergreen, Farwell, Prairie View and the 6th Grade Center for 2019-2020.

Important dates:

​

  • Tuesday, September 10, during the school day

    • Band and orchestra demonstration concerts at each elementary school!​

  • Thursday, September 19, 6pm Mead HS Theatre and Mall​

    • Parent and student orientation & information - ​General information, ask questions, try & rent instruments, buy a book, register, etc.

  • Monday, September 23 - beginning band instruction and classes begin​.  Please drop off students approximately 7:50am in the designated drop off zone.

  • December 17, 2019 - First concert :) MHS Theatre

  • March 3, 2020 - Concert, MHS Theatre, 7pm

  • May 21 , 2020 - Extravaganza concert, MHS Gym 7pm

Instrument schedules:

  • Flute - Tuesday and Friday

  • Clarinet - Monday and Thursday

  • Saxophone - Monday and Wednesday

  • Trumpet - Monday and Wednesday

  • Trombone - Tuesday and Friday

  • Snare Drum - Tuesday and Thursday

Transportation:

​

  • Parents and students are responsible for their transportation to classes.  Please contact the band office if you are having difficulty with transportation; 465-7047.

  • Mead School District will provide school bus transportation to each of the elementary schools.

​

Needed Items:

​

  • Instrument and accessories (reeds, mouthpiece, cleaning supplies, valve oil, cork grease, etc.)

Borrowing an instrument from school - Although we would like to be able to provide everyone with an instrument, we are very limited in the number of instruments we possess and can loan.  We will do our very best to assist in finding an instrument for everyone interested in playing, but please also do your best to find relatives and friends that could loan an instrument.​

These are specific to your instrument so look carefully at what you're buying and please label your book!​
