Travel and Events

1. Represent his/her school well with high levels of musicianship & adult like behavior.
2. Follow rules: If in doubt-don’t’ “ just do it” first, ASK first. If Mr. Lack or Mr. Lewis were standing next to you, would you still do it?  What does your gut feeling tell you?
3. Be alert to changes in schedules.
4. Stay with assigned rooms, bus, bus seats unless given permission by the director to change.
5. Speak respectfully to all adult leaders & fellow travelers.
6. Follow policies set by the professional bus driver. Do not stand while the bus is moving.
   
7. Stay in bus seats at all stops until released by Mr. Lack or Mr. Lewis or the head bus chaperon.
8. Be respectful of others rights on the bus and not yell or sing.
9. Be at assigned locations, on time & stay with a group at all times. (Required number of students in a group will be stated for each particular situation with the usual minimum being 3 students.
10. Only bring a “ personal audio” device with headphones if choosing to listen to music.
11. Be in room at designated time at night, stay in room & turn lights out 30 minutes later. (lights out + sleep time)
12. Not smoke, drink alcohol, take illegal drugs. Prescription AND non-prescription medication may only be taken following the school policy, which requires a school permission form (get one from the office) filled out by a doctor.
13. Refrain from “emotional activity” also known as PDA (public displays of affection).  Please understand that any violation of this policy will result in disciplinary actions at the discretion of the Directors.
14. Clean up after myself on the bus and in other areas used by me such as hotel rooms and gyms.
15. Spend my money wisely, considering the needs of the entire trip. (meals that the student pays for, etc).
16. Be responsible for their instrument, uniform in bag, & personal belongings throughout the trip, ALL with labels.

1. Students will ONLY be in the room that was assigned to them.  Boys will NEVER be in a girls room and girls will NEVER be in a boys room.
2. Outgoing phone calls, pay TV movies, & other incidental charges will not accessible to the room.  Please do not access them if they are accidentally available.  No room-to-room or cell phone calls after lights out are permitted.
3. Any charges to the room will be the responsibility of those in the room and they will need to be explained to the directors.
4. Please keep in mind that we are among many paying customers in the hotel.

• Date: 1st Saturday of October
• Location:  Tri-Cities, WA (alternates between Pasco H.S. & Kennewick H.S.)
• Cost:  The majority of the cost for this trip is included as part of the fall marching band fee.
• Housing:  Housing for students in the Marching Band is done through “Gym Stays”.  Students are to bring sleeping bags, camp pads, air mattresses.
• General Description:  This show has been in existence for over 25 years and features some of the most talented marching bands from Idaho, Montana, and Washington.  Mead Marching Band and Colorguard students will depart on Friday afternoon, travel to the Tri-Cities, have time for dinner, rehearse and go to bed.  The competition is held on the 1st Saturday of October at one of 2 places: Edgar Brown Stadium at Pasco H.S. OR Neil F. Lampson Stadium at Kennewick H.S.
• The competitive event has a preliminary round in the morning and afternoon involving 25-30 bands and is followed by a final round of 12 bands competing in the evening.

Pacific Northwest Marching Band Championships -

• Date: 2nd Saturday of October
• Location: Spokane, WA – Joe Albi Stadium
• Cost:  The majority of the cost for this trip is included as part of the fall marching band fee.
• Housing:  This is not an overnight trip.
• General Description:  Marching Band and Colorguard students will report to Mead H.S. on the morning of the 2nd Saturday in October.  The band and colorguard travels together on provided buses to Joe Albi Stadium for a day of competition. There is a preliminary round in the morning and afternoon involving 15-25 bands and is followed by a final round of 12-15 bands competing in the evening.

Puget Sound Festival of Bands-

• Date: 4th Saturday of October
• Location: Everett, WA – Everett Memorial Stadium
• Cost:  The majority of the cost for this trip is included as part of the fall marching band fee.
• Housing: Housing for students in the Marching Band is done through “Gym
• Stays”.  Students are to bring sleeping bags, camp pads, air mattresses.
• General Description: Mead Marching Band and Colorguard students will depart on Friday afternoon, travel to the Seattle/Everett Area, have time for some free time and dinner, arrive at housing and go to bed.  The competition is held on the 4th Saturday of October, has a preliminary round in the morning and afternoon involving 25-30 bands and is followed by a final round of 12 bands competing in the evening.  The show often serves as our final competition of the season.
